Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Low

Severity

Driving

The hydraulic oil temperature signal is stuck low, which reads as implausibly hot on a typical sensor whose resistance falls as temperature rises. Electrically this is usually shorted to earth. The module treats the reading as unusable and drives the actuators conservatively, so gear changes may feel slow or harsh.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Read the temperature on a cold vehicle. A reading nowhere near ambient confirms the circuit rather than a genuine temperature.
  2. Unplug the sensor and check whether the low reading persists at the harness.
  3. Check the sensor earth before assuming a shorted signal wire.
  4. Inspect the connector for corrosion and fluid.
  5. Check the fluid level and condition.
