Gear Shift Forward Actuator Circuit Low

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The gear shift forward actuator circuit is reading low - typically shorted to earth or open circuit. The module cannot drive that actuator, so gears requiring movement in the forward direction cannot be engaged.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the actuator and check whether the low reading persists at the harness.
  2. Inspect the connector for corrosion and water.
  3. Measure the actuator winding against specification.
  4. Note which gears still work - that tells you whether one actuator or a shared circuit is at fault.
  5. Run the calibration procedure after any repair.
