Gate Select Actuator Circuit/Open

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

An open circuit or general electrical fault in the gate select actuator circuit - the motor or valve that moves the selector shaft across the gate. Without it the module cannot choose which pair of gears to engage, so gear changes will fail.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check the fuses on the actuator supply first.
  2. Inspect the connector at the gearbox for corrosion and water.
  3. Measure the actuator winding resistance against specification.
  4. Check continuity through the harness between the module and the actuator.
  5. Run the calibration procedure after any repair here.
