Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch "E" Circuit

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

A fault in the circuit for transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch "E". As with sensors "A" to "D", this reports whether pressure reached a particular hydraulic circuit - the module's way of confirming that the clutch it just commanded actually received pressure. Without it the module cannot verify its own shifts.

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check the fluid level and condition first - low fluid produces genuinely low pressure and this code with a good sensor.
  2. Read all transmission codes together. Several pressure sensor codes at once point at the case connector, the internal harness or genuinely low line pressure.
  3. Inspect the case connector for fluid ingress and corroded pins.
  4. Watch the reported pressures on the live data screen against the specification for each gear.
  5. Eliminate the external wiring and the case connector before dropping the pan.
