Clutch Actuator Circuit Low

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The clutch actuator circuit is reading low - typically shorted to earth or open circuit. The module cannot drive the clutch actuator, so the clutch cannot be operated and the car will usually refuse to move.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the actuator and check whether the low reading persists at the harness. If it does, the fault is in the wiring rather than the actuator.
  2. Inspect the connector for corrosion and water.
  3. Measure the actuator winding resistance against specification.
  4. Follow the harness around the bellhousing looking for heat and chafe damage.
  5. Run the clutch adaptation procedure after any repair here.
