The auto shift manual mode circuit is faulting intermittently. Manual mode works, then briefly does not. Connections and worn contacts are more likely than a failed module.

- Move the selector between modes repeatedly while watching the reported state.
- Wiggle-test the connector under the console.
- Inspect the selector for spilled drink.
- Check the gate mechanism for wear.
- Confirm automatic shifting is normal, in which case this is minor.
