TCM Power Relay Sense Circuit

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

A fault in the power relay sense circuit. This is the wire the module uses to check whether the relay actually did what it was told - a feedback line rather than a control line. The module commanded the relay and cannot confirm the result, so it will not trust its own power supply.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Swap the relay with an identical one and see whether the fault follows.
  2. Inspect the relay socket for corrosion and heat damage.
  3. Check continuity on the sense wire between the relay and the module.
  4. Check the fuse box for water.
  5. Read the other relay codes stored. Control and sense codes together usually mean the relay itself.

Read this code from your own car

Plug an ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. Pin16 reads every stored, pending and permanent code, explains each one like this page does — offline, with no account — and shows what the car recorded when the fault was set.
