Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Low

The clutch position sensor signal is stuck low - typically shorted to earth or open circuit. The module has no usable idea where the clutch is, so it will not attempt to control engagement normally. On many automated transmissions that means the car will not drive at all.
Possible causes
- CommonWiring shorted to earth or open circuit between the sensor and the module
- CommonCorroded or water-ingressed connector at the sensor
- CommonFailed sensor
- PossibleLoss of the 5 volt reference or the sensor earth
- PossibleChafed harness near the bellhousing

What to check, in order
- Unplug the sensor and check whether the low reading persists at the harness. If it does, the fault is in the wiring rather than the sensor.
- Check the reference voltage and earth at the sensor - a lost earth commonly drives a signal high, so P0808 is not always a shorted signal wire.
- Inspect the connector for corrosion and water.
- Follow the harness around the bellhousing looking for heat and chafe damage.
- Look for other codes sharing the same reference circuit before condemning this sensor.
