Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

The clutch position sensor is answering, but its reading does not agree with what the module expects - the reported position does not match what the clutch is actually doing. On a system with an automated clutch this usually means wear or lost calibration rather than a dead sensor.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Watch the reported clutch position through a full engagement on the live data screen and compare it with the specification.
  2. Run the clutch adaptation or calibration procedure if the vehicle has one. On these transmissions that is a routine step, not a last resort, and it resolves a large share of these codes.
  3. Assess clutch wear. A clutch near the end of its life moves its engagement point outside the range the module will accept.
  4. Check the clutch hydraulic fluid level and look for leaks on a hydraulically actuated system.
  5. Check the wiring and connector for high resistance before replacing the sensor.
