Gear Lever Push-Pull Switch (Shift Anticipate)

Severity
Low
Driving
No driving restriction

A fault in the gear lever push-pull switch circuit. This switch tells the module that the driver has taken hold of the lever and is about to request a shift, so the transmission can prepare for it. Losing it does not stop the transmission working - shifts may just feel slightly less prompt.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Watch the switch state on the live data screen while handling the lever.
  2. Check for spilled drink in the selector assembly.
  3. Inspect the connector under the console.
  4. Confirm the transmission otherwise shifts normally, in which case this is minor.
  5. Check for other selector codes - this switch rarely fails alone, and a companion code usually identifies a wider selector problem.
