Traction Control Input Signal Low

Severity

The traction control input signal to the transmission module is stuck low - typically shorted to earth or open circuit. The transmission module cannot receive torque reduction requests, so traction control will be less effective or disabled entirely.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the transmission module and check whether the low reading persists at the harness. That establishes which end of the circuit is at fault.
  2. Inspect the connectors at both modules.
  3. Follow the wiring looking for chafe damage.
  4. Read the ABS and traction control modules for their own codes.
  5. Assume traction control is off and drive accordingly in poor conditions.
