Traction Control Input Signal High

Severity
Medium
Driving
Drivable — book it in

The traction control input signal to the transmission module is stuck high - typically shorted to voltage or a lost earth. The transmission module cannot receive torque reduction requests, so traction control will be less effective or disabled entirely.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the transmission module and check whether the high reading persists at the harness. That establishes which end of the circuit is at fault.
  2. Inspect the connectors at both modules.
  3. Follow the wiring looking for chafe damage.
  4. Read the ABS and traction control modules for their own codes.
  5. Assume traction control is off and drive accordingly in poor conditions.
