Pressure Control Solenoid "F" Control Circuit High

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The control circuit for pressure control solenoid "F" is reading high - typically shorted to voltage or with a lost earth. A circuit shorted to voltage can also hold the solenoid energised, which produces genuinely wrong pressure rather than merely a lost signal.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check the solenoid earth before assuming a shorted signal wire - a lost earth commonly drives a circuit high.
  2. Read all transmission codes together. Several solenoid codes at once point at the case connector, the internal harness or contaminated fluid - not at several failed solenoids.
  3. Check the fluid level and condition first. It is the cheapest check and it explains more transmission complaints than every electrical fault combined.

Read this code from your own car

Plug an ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. Pin16 reads every stored, pending and permanent code, explains each one like this page does — offline, with no account — and shows what the car recorded when the fault was set.
