Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Intermittent

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The circuit for pressure control solenoid "D" is faulting intermittently. The transmission may drive normally for long periods and then shift harshly or drop into limp mode, recovering after a restart.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Note whether it only happens hot - that points strongly at the internal harness or the solenoid itself.
  2. Record the freeze frame data if the tool supports it.
  3. Check the fluid level and condition first. It is the cheapest check and it explains more transmission complaints than every electrical fault combined.
