Fuel Injector Group "C" Supply Voltage Circuit Low

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The supply voltage circuit for fuel injector group "C" is reading low - typically a short to earth, an open circuit, or one injector loading the supply. The injectors in that group will not open properly, so those cylinders will misfire or not fire at all.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check battery and charging voltage first, then the fuses and relays.
  2. Disconnect the injectors in group "C" one at a time while watching the supply voltage. Recovery identifies the shorted injector.
  3. Measure each injector winding resistance against specification.
  4. Perform a voltage drop test on the supply circuit.
  5. If the check engine light is flashing, stop driving - a severe misfire destroys the catalytic converter quickly.
