Fuel Injector Group "A" Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

An open circuit or general fault in the supply voltage circuit for fuel injector group "A". Injectors are usually fed in groups from a common supply, so this fault takes out several cylinders at once rather than one. Expect a severe misfire, an engine running on part of its cylinders, or no start at all.
Possible causes
- CommonBlown fuse on the injector supply
- CommonFailed relay feeding the injector group
- CommonBroken or corroded wire in the supply circuit
- CommonOne injector shorted internally, taking the supply down
- PossibleCorroded or water-ingressed connector at the injector harness
- RareFailed control module supply driver
What you might notice
- Severe misfire, or the engine running on some cylinders only
- Engine will not start
- Heavy shaking and loss of power
- Misfire codes for several cylinders at once
- Check engine light flashing
What to check, in order
- Check the fuses and relays for the injector circuit first. It is the cheapest cause and it accounts for a large share of these faults.
- Note which cylinders are misfiring. If they are all on one bank or all in one group, that confirms a shared supply rather than several failed injectors.
- Check for battery voltage at the injector connectors with the ignition on.
- Measure the injector windings for one that has shorted internally and pulled the supply down.
- A flashing check engine light during a severe misfire means unburnt fuel is reaching the catalytic converter. Stop and have it recovered rather than driving on.
