Fuel Injector Group "A" Supply Voltage Circuit High

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The supply voltage circuit for fuel injector group "A" is reading high - typically shorted to a higher voltage or with a lost earth reference. Injectors on that supply may be held open or driven wrongly, which can flood cylinders as well as causing a misfire.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check charging voltage first. If the whole vehicle is being overcharged, that is the fault to fix.
  2. Look for a short to a supply wire on the injector circuit.
  3. Inspect the injector harness connectors for corrosion bridging pins.
  4. Check the harness for chafe damage against the engine.
  5. A strong fuel smell or fuel dilution of the engine oil means an injector is passing fuel continuously. Do not keep cranking it - fuel in the oil destroys bearings.
