An electrical fault in the circuit for pressure control solenoid "A" - an open winding, a short, or resistance outside specification. This is a circuit complaint rather than a hydraulic one: the module cannot drive the solenoid at all, so it falls back to a failsafe pressure and usually holds one gear.

What to check, in order
- Read all transmission codes first. Several solenoid electrical codes at once point at the case connector or the internal harness rather than at several failed solenoids - that single observation saves a lot of unnecessary work.
- Pull the transmission case connector and look for fluid inside it. Fluid wicking up the harness corrodes the pins and can reach the control module itself.
- Measure the solenoid winding resistance at the case connector against specification.
- Check the wiring between the module and the transmission for chafing.
- Check the fluid level and condition while the vehicle is raised.
