Cruise Control Servo Control Circuit/Open

Severity
Low
Driving
No driving restriction

An open circuit in the cruise control servo circuit. The servo is what actually moves the throttle when cruise control is active; without it the system cannot operate.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check the vacuum hoses first. On a vacuum-operated cruise system a perished or disconnected hose is the most common cause and the cheapest to fix.
  2. Measure the solenoid winding resistance against specification.
  3. Inspect the connector for corrosion.
  4. Check the vacuum supply and its non-return valve.
  5. Confirm ordinary driving is unaffected before deciding how urgent this is.
