Battery Temperature Sensor Circuit High

The battery temperature sensor signal is stuck high - typically open circuit or shorted to voltage. The module has no usable battery temperature and will fall back to a default charging voltage, which is safe but not optimal for battery life.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check the sensor is connected. After a battery change this is the answer more often than not.
  2. Unplug the sensor and check whether the high reading persists at the harness.
  3. Inspect the connector for corrosion and acid damage.
  4. Measure the sensor resistance against specification at a known temperature.
  5. Check charging voltage against specification while you are there.
