Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Control Circuit Low

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

The fuel pressure regulator 2 control circuit is reading low - typically shorted to earth or an open circuit. The module cannot control fuel pressure and will restrict the engine.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the regulator and check whether the low reading persists at the harness.
  2. Check the fuel filter and when it was last changed. A restricted supply makes a healthy regulator look faulty, and it is the cheapest thing to eliminate.
  3. Compare commanded against actual fuel pressure on the live data screen.
  4. Inspect the connector and wiring at the regulator.
  5. Measure the regulator winding resistance against specification.
  6. Get a professional assessment before replacing a high-pressure pump - it is expensive and it is frequently blamed for supply problems upstream of it.
