A/C Refrigerant Distribution Valve Control Circuit Low

Severity
Low
Driving
No driving restriction

The air conditioning refrigerant distribution valve circuit is reading low - typically shorted to earth or an open circuit. The module cannot direct refrigerant between the evaporators.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect the valve and check whether the low reading persists at the harness.
  2. Check whether one zone works and another does not. That pattern points at the distribution valve rather than at the system as a whole.
  3. Check the fuse for the circuit.
  4. Inspect the connector and wiring at the valve.
  5. Measure the solenoid winding resistance against specification.
  6. Have the refrigerant charge checked - a low charge produces poor cooling that looks like a distribution fault.
