Actuator Supply Voltage "A" Circuit High

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

Actuator supply voltage "A" is reading high - the supply to a group of actuators is above where it should be, usually because it has been shorted to a higher voltage or has lost its earth reference. Actuators on that supply may operate when they should not.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check charging voltage first. If the whole vehicle is being overcharged, this code is a symptom of that and the charging fault is the one to fix.
  2. Look for a short to a supply wire on the actuator supply circuit.
  3. Inspect connectors for corrosion bridging adjacent pins.
  4. Check the harness for chafe damage where the supply runs alongside heavier circuits.
  5. Fix the supply before diagnosing the actuator codes stored alongside.

Read this code from your own car

Plug an ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. Pin16 reads every stored, pending and permanent code, explains each one like this page does — offline, with no account — and shows what the car recorded when the fault was set.
