Actuator Supply Voltage "A" Circuit Low

Severity
High
Driving
Drive only to a garage

Actuator supply voltage "A" is reading low - the supply the module provides to a group of actuators has been dragged down, usually by a short to earth or by one failed actuator loading it. Everything on that supply will be working weakly or not at all.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Check battery and charging voltage first. A weak supply to the whole vehicle shows up here before it shows up anywhere else.
  2. Disconnect actuators on supply "A" one at a time while watching the supply voltage.
  3. Look for water in connectors bridging the supply to earth.
  4. Perform a voltage drop test on the supply circuit to find high resistance.
  5. Fix the supply before diagnosing the individual actuator codes stored alongside.

Plug an ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. Pin16 reads every stored, pending and permanent code, explains each one like this page does — offline, with no account — and shows what the car recorded when the fault was set.
