Event Data Recorder Request Circuit Low

Severity
Low

The event data recorder request circuit is reading low - typically shorted to earth or an open circuit. The request signal cannot be passed reliably, so an event may not be recorded.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Disconnect at one end and check whether the low reading persists, to establish which side of the circuit is at fault.
  2. Read the restraints module as well. The recorder is usually triggered from there, and a restraints fault matters far more than this code does.
  3. Inspect the connectors at both modules.
  4. Check the wiring for chafe damage.
  5. If an airbag warning light is on, treat the restraints side as the priority and do not work on restraints wiring with the battery connected.
