Engine Mount Control Circuit High
- Severity
- Low
- Driving
- Drivable — book it in
The engine mount control circuit is reading high - typically a short to voltage or a lost earth. The mount cannot be controlled, so it stays at one stiffness instead of adapting. Expect more vibration than usual, particularly at idle and as the engine starts and stops, and nothing worse than that.
Possible causes
- CommonWiring a short to voltage or a lost earth between the module and the mount
- CommonCorroded or water-damaged connector
- CommonFailed mount solenoid
- PossibleBlown fuse
- RareFailed driver inside the control module
What you might notice
- Vibration through the cabin at idle
- Shudder when the engine starts or stops
- Booming at certain engine speeds
- Check engine light on
What to check, in order
- Unplug the mount and check whether the high reading persists at the harness.
- Inspect the harness where it crosses between the body and the engine.
- Measure the solenoid's resistance against specification.
- Check the mount itself for collapsed rubber or leaking fluid before replacing anything electrical.
- Do not disturb anything orange.
