Motor Electronics Coolant Pump Control Circuit High
- Severity
- High
- Driving
- Drive only to a garage
The motor electronics coolant pump control circuit is reading high - typically a short to voltage or a lost earth. The module cannot control the pump that cools the inverter, so it must assume that loop is not being cooled and will restrict power accordingly.
Possible causes
- CommonWiring a short to voltage or a lost earth between the module and the pump
- CommonCorroded or water-damaged connector at the pump
- CommonFailed pump with a shorted or open winding
- PossibleBlown fuse or failed relay
- RareFailed driver inside the control module
What you might notice
- Severely reduced power under sustained load
- Hybrid or electric drive system warning message
- Inverter or drive electronics overheating warning
- Slower charging, or charging refused
What to check, in order
- Check the fuse and the pump's supply before condemning the pump.
- Check the 12 volt battery first - it is the most common cause of scattered hybrid system codes.
- Unplug the pump and check whether the high reading persists at the harness. That separates a failed pump from a wiring fault.
- Check the coolant level in the motor electronics reservoir, which is not the engine one.
- Do not disturb anything orange.

Plug an ELM327 adapter into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. Pin16 reads every stored, pending and permanent code, explains each one like this page does — offline, with no account — and shows what the car recorded when the fault was set.
