Engine Mount Control Circuit Low

Severity
Low
Driving
Drivable — book it in

The engine mount control circuit is reading low - typically a short to earth. The mount cannot be controlled, so it stays at one stiffness instead of adapting. Expect more vibration than usual, particularly at idle and as the engine starts and stops, and nothing worse than that.

Possible causes

What you might notice

What to check, in order

  1. Unplug the mount and check whether the low reading persists at the harness.
  2. Inspect the harness where it crosses between the body and the engine.
  3. Measure the solenoid's resistance against specification.
  4. Check the mount itself for collapsed rubber or leaking fluid before replacing anything electrical.
  5. Do not disturb anything orange.
